バーナード・リーチのうつわに跳ねる動物たちBernard Leach is back. Works by the famed potter will be on display in Yamazaki, south of Kyoto, all summer.
With motifs of birds, rabbits, frogs, girffins, etc., Leach (1889 - 1979) crafted works both earthy and stunningly beautiful.
Along with Mingei Movement founder Yanagi Soetsu, Leach contributed to a revival of Japanese arts and crafts.
In 1911, Leach arrived in Japan for the first time, leading him to follow the path of pottery.
Leach loved nature and the natural world, and this is evinced in his works.
"Bernard Leach's Animals" will run until September 1.
The Asahi Oyamazaki Villa Museum of Art is a one-hour ride south of Kyoto.
