As noted in a previous blog, Kyoto recently opened a new bike lane.
It is 300 meters long, and runs in front of the prefectural police department building.
Perhaps the best aspect of the lane is the sign, pictured at right.
It is clear, attractive, easy to understand - and framed mystically by a brutally trimmed street tree.
The black lettering at the bottom - ここまで (koko made) - means "until this point."
Thus, the lane ends at the sign.

Ah,I know the rode and new bike lane there. It is too short, right? Only some hundred meters long, and far from the main street so I think there is little users there. How do you think of ?
Hi and thanks for the comment. Yes: too short, not on a main street. There is no need for a bike lane here.
Hi,
I agree that it's too short..but its a progress anyway,don't you think?
I am sick of riding a sidewalk with footers, feeling timid while it is LEGAL riding a bike there in some area in Kyoto.
I hope this lane would extend and extend and extend.
