Cycling Book Review The Road Back

road-back書評「The Road Back」

The Road Back is a delicate, inspiring read.

Michael Vitez, a reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer, writes the story of Matt Miller, a student at the University of Virginia and triathlete.

One day, while cycling the Blue Ridge Parkway, Miller fell into an oncoming Porsche. Every bone in his face was broken.

This is not the end but the beginning of the story.

The story was a three-part piece in the Inquirer. It documentes both Miller's tremendous drive and the people who helped him heal.

"My mission as a writer has always been to celebrate life, to lift the human spirit when I can. I tried to do that with this book," said Pulitzer prize winner Vitez.

Cynic that we are, we approached this book warily.

It was heartwarming and wonderful.
