Fushimi Inari Summer Illumination

花鳥風月の灯 夜彩る 伏見稲荷本宮祭

At Fushimi Inari Shrine, located in south Kyoto, there is a festival of traditional lanterns that are illuminated at night.

Both chochin and toro lanterns fill the main hall of the shrine. Many came out in yukata robes to enjoy the view.

The illumination begins at 7 pm and...lasted, alas, until July 21st.

Apologies for the tease, but the festival is now finished for this year.

This will be on our list of festivals to see next summer.
