Kyoto Native Kaori Fujino Wins Akutagawa Literature Prize

Kyoto native and resident Kaori Fujino has won the prestigious Akutagawga Prize for her work of fiction.

The thirty-three year-old writer was born and raised in Kyoto and graduated from Doshisha University.

The annual announcement of the Akutagawa winner is national news. It takes place with the winner of the Naoki Prize, which was won this year by Shino Sakuragi.

Fujino's award-winning work is Tsume to Me (Fingernail and Eye).

The story revolves around the actions and emotions of the lover of a three-year-old girl's father.
